Jan Copley has worked as an attorney in both large and small law firms.  In 1993, she established her own firm in her home study with two clients, a computer and fax machine, and built it into a profitable, well-known estate planning practice.  During her years practicing law, Jan took advantage of business coaching services available to her and learned how to apply management and marketing techniques to create a successful business.

Jan has taught courses about legal-technical, law office administration and marketing issues to the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys, the Southern California Institute, the Lorman Group, and other entities.

Jan received her A.B. from Occidental College, graduating cum laude with a degree in American Studies.  She received her J.D. from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles.  She completed the Esperti-Peterson Institute’s year-long course, “Advanced Studies for Wealth and Estate Planning,” which concentrates on sophisticated estate planning techniques for wealthy clients.

Ms. Copley is married to Louis Steinhauer.  Ms. Copley’s interests include bicycle riding (she has done a double century — 200 miles in twenty-four hours!), reading, cooking and travel.  Ms. Copley and Mr. Steinhauer live in Pasadena, California.
